Effective Feb 1, 2005 we have changed the name of our Ezine from NoSidesMag to The Gay/Straight Muse (GSM). The Ezine will also undergo a few other changes. Because of the wealth of quality information that exists on the net, GSM will no longer publish a monthly newsletter per se. Instead GSM will offer links to current and informative information. Secondly, we are very dedicated to getting conversation going in our Forum. The Forum is designed to be a meeting place where everyone can share their thoughts and ideas. It's about understanding each others and building alliances. Please sign up to the Forum and participate. All of our past articles are located either at the forum or at the Gay Insights Blog. There are links to both below.

What a concept, a meeting place for those that desire to understand one another. In reality we all understand that there are times that we must make choices based on input that we have acquired. However, making choices is not taking sides. Sides are like, Republican or Democrat, red or blue, conservative or liberal, etc. The Gay/Straight Muse is an attempt to use only one criterion when making choices. Is it right or is it wrong. You might say that what's right for me may not be right for someone else, and you wouldn't get any disagreement on that here. However, most of the causes that people defend, they defend based solely on what side they are on. If they based their beliefs on right and wrong instead, the world might become a better place for everyone.

Now here's the interesting part of all of this. It's damn hard to think like that. We have been raised thinking in groups, as a team, for a cause. for so long, that we all could use a little practice. Open your mind, your heart, and your imagination and join us as we express our opinions of what's right and what's wrong.

The main topics are gay rights and the separation of state and church, but other topics will pop up from time to time. We encourage you to submit an article for discussion in out article forums . We do retain the right to deny an article for inclusion, but seldom do.

If you enjoy The Gay/Straight Muse please help us grow by visiting the Link to Us - Support Us and Others webpage. Your donation will be used wisely.

The Root of Homophobia - A report by Ryan Kelly

Gay Marriage

A Non Issue?

When you ask yourself the question, "How does gays marrying affect me?", you may just realize it's an oversold issue. You may even find it has benefits you never thought of. First, with the commitment of a marriage the participants are discouraged from promiscuous sex, an area of the gay lifestyle that seems to bother heterosexuals.....

MUST READING

By Ryan Kelly

There is a criminal conspiracy, so vast and so monstrous, that it defies imagination. The people need to know what's going on, but mainstream media won't touch this with a ten-foot pole. In fact, some of the very people involved in this conspiracy are tied to the media. What follows is from a report by Wayne Madsen. The report is in three parts. They are very long, but I suggest you read as much as you can at one setting. Bookmark the Blog should you need to come back to continue your reading.

Wayne Madsen is a Washington, D.C.-based investigative journalist and syndicated columnist who has recently written a series of articles exposing election fraud in the 2004 US elections. He is the author of "Jaded Tasks: Big Oil, Black Ops, and Brass Plates", and is the co-author, with John Stanton, of "America's Nightmare: The Presidency of George Bush II."

Madsen is a Senior Fellow of the Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC). [1] He was a communications security analyst with the NSA in the 1980's, and an intelligence officer in the US Marine Corps. He has testified on numerous occasions before Congress. I have read all of the report and I have no doubts that there is truth to what Wayne says.

THE "CHRISTIAN" MAFIA

Where Those Who Now Run the U.S. Government Came From and Where They Are Taking UsBy Wayne MadsenPart I

After several months of in-depth research and, at first, seeminglyunrelated conversations with former high-level intelligence officials, lawyers, politicians, religious figures, other investigativejournalists, and researchers, I can now report on a criminalconspiracy so vast and monstrous it defies imagination. Using"Christian" groups as tax-exempt and cleverly camouflaged covers, wealthy right-wing businessmen and "clergy" have now assumed firmcontrol over the biggest prize of all - the government of the UnitedStates of America.........Read More

The gay rights movement is a collection of loosely aligned civil rights groups, human rights groups, support groups and political activists seeking acceptance, tolerance and equality for non-heterosexuals (homosexual, bisexuals), and the transgendered - despite the fact that it is typically refered to as the gay rights movement, members also promote the rights of groups of individuals who do not necessarily identify as being 'gay'. These views are considered controversial by some, and the gay rights movement is opposed by a variety of individuals and groups including some religious and political (traditionally though not exclusively right-wing) groups. Although it is difficult to generalize given the wide range of opinions and beliefs within the gay rights movement, in general most members believe:

that all people deserve equal rights and parity in law regardless of their sexual orientation,

that homophobia (the irrational fear and/or hatred of homosexuals) is dangerous, not just to homosexuals but to all members of society.

views that unfairly portray homosexuality as being negative (i.e. a sin or a perversion) are irrelevant, misguided or even outright malicious.

that sexual orientation is not a choice, referring to homosexuality and heterosexuality equally as unchangeable sexual orientation,

that attempts to alter sexual orientation (Ex-gay movement and Reparative therapy) can be dangerous, misguided at best, and that people should be free to express their sexual identity without fear of reprisal.

Gay/Straight Muse Research

More than 20 years ago, the American Psychiatric Association removed "homosexuality" from its list of mental disorders, stating that "homosexuality per se implies no impairment in judgment, stability, reliability, or general social or vocational capabilities" (American Psychiatric Association, 1980). In 1975, the American Psychological Association took the same position and urged all mental health professionals to help dispel the stigma of mental illness that had long been associated with homosexual orientation (American Psychological Association, 1975). The National Association of Social Workers has a similar policy (National Association of Social Workers, 1994).Read More...

Welcome to The Gay/Straight Muse!

The Gay/Straight Muse is a magazine created for the sole purpose of giving the entire world a voice in the issues that impact our families, culture and world. We offer a perspective that is widely held by millions of Americans but is often not well represented in the media. People who are denied a voice in the affairs of a culture are eventually disenfranchised by that culture. The gay community is no exception. We must be afforded the opportunity to contribute our perspective to help further our society and nation.
